Republic, East India Dock, E14
A particularly complex project, Republic is a former East India Dock, just north of Canary Wharf. Acting for LaSalle and other investors, including Manchester Superannuation Fund, British Gas Pension Fund and Santander, the Freehold estate was purchased for £170M.
The original estate totalled 600,000 sq ft of secondary offices. Along with development partner, Trilogy Property, we saw the potential to create a major new educational and mixed-use campus. Following extensive refurbishment, another
100,000 sq ft was added. And over 50% has already been let to educational users. More recently, planning has been submitted to add a major data centre and a couple of student housing towers. Complex, yes, but we made it as simple as possible.
